Cooking Instructions for Pierogi Palace's Homemade Pierogi
The Pierogi Palace pierogi are already boiled. So, DO NOT BOIL. Just thaw and fry.
Depending on when pierogi will be cooked, thaw them over-night in the refrigerator or on the counter top the day of cooking. Another way is to place the bag(s) of pierogi in a container of hot water from the sink and thaw until soft. You can also defrost in a microwave. (Take 'frozen pierogi' and place separately in a covered dish with a little water and cook in your microwave oven on High for 3-minutes. The water will allow the pierogi to "steam" and helps to keep the dough edges from drying. (Know your microwave's power as cooking times vary as to model.) Then fry the pierogi to a desired crispness.)
The most popular way to prepare pierogi is to fry them in butter (best), margarine or olive oil to the desired crispness. Do not use a high heat. Turn frequently.
Pierogi can also be baked. It's best to thaw pierogi first. Put some water into the bottom of a roasting pan; place a wire rack in the pan; line roaster with aluminum foil then spray the foil. Next, stack pierogi evenly in the pan; put butter or margarine on top of the last layer then seal pan with foil. Place roaster in the oven under a low heat. Roast 'til pierogi are hot. Periodically check the pierogi so that the edges do not over cook.
A customer from South Carolina suggested a new way to cook pierogi... "Deep fry". Heat the oil in deep fryer to 350 degrees. Place pierogi in oil. Once they float to the top, cook pierogi for a minute or two to the desired crispness. Thank you JW.
If you want fried onions with your pierogi, fry the onions first and set aside. Onions will burn if you try to cook the pierogi with the onions. After pierogi are fried, you can then reheat the onions.
You can also top your pierogi with sour cream, ranch dressing and/or "caramelized butter".
Pierogi Palace's Homemade Fruit Filled Pierogi
After frying, sprinkle powdered sugar on top or put a teaspoon of sour cream, whipping cream or ice cream on top of pierogi before serving.
Pierogi Palace's Homemade Gluten-Free Items
We understand how important it is for people who have been medically diagnosed with gluten sensitivity to have accurate information about foods to help plan their meals and diets. Therefore, it has been a long standing policy for all Kraft and Nabisco products to list ingredients that contain gluten on the ingredient statement. These items will be listed using commonly known terms such as Wheat, Barley, Oats or Rye. For other ingredients that contain gluten, the grain source will be declared in parenthesis after the ingredient name. For example, if the ingredient "natural flavor" contains a gluten source, the label would read: natural flavor (contains rye). Other ingredients that contain gluten are: Triticale, Spelt, Kamut, Mir or Farina (also known as Far or Farro).
For Kraft-branded products that contain vinegar, information from our vinegar suppliers assures us that the vinegar we use in our products is gluten free. All vinegar is distilled and through the distilling process protein gluten is removed.
If you would like additional information or to view a Gluten Fact Sheet please visit www.kraftfoods.com and type gluten in the "Search Kraft" box.
